Women are key components of human development in Islamic Iran, the country’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance says.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri said on Saturday that justice and balance will come after the establishment of gender justice in society.
“We cannot talk about reform and change in the society when ignoring women,” he noted.
Salehi-Amiri added that development will be sustainable only through the establishment of a link between human development and improvement of the human life expectancy.
The Iranian official made the remark while addressing the first Women, Family and Media festival currently underway in Tehran.
Critics have praised Iran cinema for its portrayal of women in society, with many actresses held in high esteem in enormous cinematic events.
